Acadia Mountain Guides Climbing School has established relationships with industry leaders in Guiding Standards, Avalanche Science, and Wilderness Medicine to insure that all our courses are consistently cutting edge.
 

AIARE was established to raise the bar on Avalanche Education in the United States. The AIARE three part series of Avalanche Awareness courses has been developed by North America's leading Avalanche experts. School owner Jon Tierney is an AIARE approved Level I and Level II Instructor and Acadia Mountain Guides Climbing School is the only Provider of the Level III course east of the Rockies.

The AMGA sets the standard for guiding in the United States. School owner Jon Tierney developed the curriculum adopted by the AMGA for Top Rope Site Management. The TRSM is the AMGA's most popular course. Jon also teaches the AMGA Rock Instructor Course and serves on the Technical and Accreditation Committees. All our guides have been through AMGA educational courses. Acadia Mountain Guides is the only school in Maine to be accredited by the AMGA and is also the only school in Maine to employ AMGA certified guides.


Northern Outdoors is Maine's premier four season resort. Wilderness Medical Associates leads the international community in developing and offering Medical Training in the Wilderness Environment. School owner Jon Tierney has been a paramedic and lead instructor for WMA since the 80's. All of the Acadia Mountain Guides are certified Wilderness First Responders and many are Wilderness EMTs. Acadia Mountain Guides Climbing School offers WMA courses internationally. Our clients include Search and Rescue Teams, Outdoor Shools, the United States Military, the Venezeulan National Mountain Rescue Team, and other mountain professionals and outdoor enthusiasts around the world.
